We are committed to the Ogoni clean up project. Buhari reassures.


President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday restated his administration’s commitment to the cleanup in Ogoniland when a received a delegation of Ogoni leaders in Abuja.



The President had last week said the cleanup of Ogoniland and other oil-impacted communities which his administration started in Bodo, Rivers State on June 2 would last 20 years.

Welcoming the delegation led by HRM King G.N.K. Gininwa (JP) OFR, Gbenemene Tai Kingdom, the president on his Twitter handle @MBuhari said he remained committed “to cleaning, securing and empowering the Niger Delta”.

He added that the mandate “is genuine. We made a promise, we will fulfill it.”

Joseph Yobo was also a part of the delegation.
