NIGER DELTA REPUBLIC: Kaiama town under lock-down as Avengers declare independence.

Reports have it that Kaiama town in Kolokuma/Opokuma local government area of Bayelsa state is locked down.

Men and officers of the Nigerian army have staged a full military occupation of the town which is believed to be the headquarters of the Adaka Boro Avengers, A.B.A.
This is not unconnected with the declaration of the independence of the Niger Delta Republic supposed to hold today August 1.

It would be recalled that last week the ABA through its spokesperson General Edmos Ayayeibo issued a statement calling on all south south and Niger delta indigenes to return home and all non indigenes to leave the region. Thedeclaration was said to place in Kaiama.

Commander of Joint Task Force in the Niger Delta, codenamed Operation Delta Safe, Rear Admiral Joseph Okojie, told journalists yesterday that the Nigerian Armed Forces would not abdicate their responsibility to protect lives, property and the territorial integrity of the country.
He described the threat of secession as treasonable and that it wouldn't be condoned.
