#RiversRerun: PDP faults disqualification of candidate, rejects some declared results.

Image
The Chairman of Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Felix Obuah, has said the party would not accept the disqualification of its candidate for Akuku-Toru state Constituency 2, Tonye Awari Alalibo, describing it as not only illegal and mischievous but also highly vexatious. He insisted, “No Election Petition Tribunal nor the Election Appeal Tribunal, including the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has the power to disqualify any party candidate (as provided for in the 2012 Electoral Act as amended), and for which the PDP and its candidate for Akuku-Toru State Constituency 2 are already in court.” He also said no Election Petition Tribunal or Appeal Tribunal has right to disqualify any candidate, when the issue of disqualification was not part of the subject matter before both the Election Petition Tribunal and Appeal Tribunal. “Accordingly, INEC lacks powers to disqualify the PDP candidate. Therefore, the purported disqualification of our

Embattled Secretary of the Ekiti State Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Tope Aluko has said that Governor Ayodele Fayose was only running away from his shadows over his recent outburst and alleged confessions on the rigging of the June 21, 2014 gubernatorial elections in the state. Aluko had stirred the hornet net when he alleged that Fayose got a total of $37m to use the military to rig the said election which returned him (Fayose) as Governor of the state. Consequently, several developments have followed his outburst which include the alleged invasion of the House of Assembly by men of the Directorate of State Security Services and arrest of some lawmakers who were detained for days and recently released. There was also yesterday’s allegation by the state government that policemen from Abuja were in the state to arrest 11 lawmakers and some top government functionaries at the instance of APC members in the state. Controversial TV presenter, musician and actor, Charlie Boy has written an open letter to Mohammadu Buhari concerning the fuel scarcity and controversies surrounding the Minister of state for Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu. The letter reads: Charlie Boy "My dear Presido, I trust you are not letting the rot and the decay you met in the system overwhelm you.  I was filled with expectation when you emerged winner. I prayed that you would be a catalyst in redirecting our drifting country; because many things spoil no be small.  I can’t say that I was too thrilled with some of your selections for the ministerial posts, but I suspected you had a good reason for most of the choice you made. Your campaign was about change, which I hoped was all-encompassing- change in our mindset, our attitude to work, and above all, not business as usual.  It is based on one of your outstanding ministerial selections that I write this personal letter to you.  My Presido, please tell all them bro

Idris Wada may be on his way back to Kogi state Government House.

Image
Indications are rife that former Kogi State governor, Idris Wada may be heading back to Lugard House as the governor of Kogi State when the state governorship election tribunal sitting in Abuja gives its final ruling. According to a reliable source , former governor Idris Wada’s argument at the tribunal that the late Prince Abubakar Audu’s votes were illegal because he got additional votes from Kano and Lagos may be yielding fruits. To buttress his point, the governor and his team claimed to have evidence of the malpractice. It would be recalled that the tribunal agreed to accept forensic reports as parts of evidence to be tendered by the petitioner during proceeding which is clearly in Wada’s favour. Justice Halima ruled on an earlier motion filed by the petitioner, Captain Idris Wada saying that the court would accept forensic experts as witnesses and their reports as evidence. It was also learnt that former governor; Idris Wada may be leading by 250 votes if some of t

In a publication on one of the media outlets of the Indigenous People of Biafra, the group urged all its supporters to seize the opportunity offered by the Nuclear Security Summit to be hosted by the US to launch this campaign especially as Mohammadu Buhari is expected to be in attendance. The publication reads: "Once again, Barak Obama, United States of America (USA) President will shake the bloodstained hands of Muhammadu Buhari, Nigerian President and African Hitler. In response to claims by the Ekiti state All Progressives Congress, APC, that the State Governor, Ayo Fayose posed a major security threat to the nation, the governor has fired back saying the APC is the real threat not him. Fayose’s speaking through his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka disclosed this in a statement yesterday. Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State The governor said, “The major threat to national security is a party that lost election since June 21, 2014 and still trying to get back to power, using crude means including turning itself to the mouthpiece of the Department of State Services, DSS.” “It is only in Nigeria that a party that ran Ekiti State agroun

Kirk Franklin marks 20 years in gospel music with '20 Years In One Night Tour '.

Image
Legendary gospel singer Kirk Franklin kicked off his highly anticipated ’20 Years In One Night’ tour on March 19, and he literally shut it down for God’s glory. There was no room for sanctimony in the sold-out Warner Theatre on Saturday night. Everything in Kirk Franklin’s show, from the gospel artist’s ultra-casual black jogger pants and collared tunic to his pop-lock and milly-rock dances, was meticulously coordinated in defiance of many churches’ stuffy and judgmental reputations. He insisted that the audience members shed their self-consciousness and let loose as well, reassuring them by saying: “It’s okay. You’re at a Kirk concert.” But his reputation preceded him. It was 1997 when Franklin’s “Stomp (Remix)” exploded with a thundering funkadelic sample and a verse from Salt of famed hip-hop trio Salt-N-Pepa, and it still propels people from their seats 19 years later.  Although it was the penultimate song in Franklin’s set, it’s the tune that determined the show’s tone,
