Let Us Talk About PRETTY PRIVILEGES

Image
It’s normal to see a lady go on lavish vacations in exquisite locations with no single dime in the pocket. (Or purse). For am man to be able to afford the same trip he may need to work his socks off for some months (or years, as the case may be). And sometimes he may need to collaborate with some friends in order to chest the expenses.  But here we have a female without a job, a skill or source of income of any sort making these trips multiple times. Simple because she has a pretty face. This example explains the basic concept of the infamous pretty privilege; which I never knew was a thing until recently. Now, don’t get me wrong. There is nothing wrong in a person receiving preferential treatment or advantages based on their physical looks. I mean I wouldn’t mind getting stuff for free simply because I have a big head. My only problem is with those sisters who make it a full time job. If we’re being honest to ourselves, then we’ll all agree that being physically attractive is alwa...

HEART BREAK

Image
She sat quietly in the cab as the driver slowly waded his way through Port Harcourt traffic. The only thing quiet about her at that moment was her physical appearance. Deep inside her a war raged. Her heart was beating twice as fast as its usual rate while her thoughts raced even faster. After a couple of futile tries to engage her in a conversation, the driver gave up and instead turned up the volume of the radio. Suddenly Michael Bolton’s voice wafted through the speakers as he chimed his all-time classic How Am I Supposed To Live Without You. She opened her mouth to ask him to turn it off; not just because she wanted to be left to her thoughts, she also didn’t want anything that would aggravate the pains she was already feeling. But she thought better of it. If there were any songs that could describe how she felt, this would no doubt be one of them. And even though the song was written almost a decade before she was born, it felt comforting that someone understood what she was goin...

That set off a firestorm which the star said completely shocked him. He wasn't at the point yet where he wanted to discuss his sexuality, Haynes said.  "I should have made a comment or a statement, but I just wasn't ready," he said.   "I didn't feel...

Woman who stole a baby 18 years ago appears in court after the child met her sister with striking resemblance..

Image
A woman charged with stealing a newborn baby 18 years ago appeared briefly in a South African court Monday, in a case that came to light only when school pupils noticed a startling resemblance between a student and a new girl. The case in the Cape Town High Court was postponed until Tuesday by Judge John Hlophe after prosecutors said they needed time to formalise agreements on a number of admissions by the defence. The accused 50-year-old woman has been on bail since March last year after DNA tests confirmed that the new girl at the school and a 17-year-old final-year student were in fact biological sisters. The new girl was the daughter of Celeste and Morne Nurse, whose first child was snatched as a three-day-old baby named Zephany in April 1997 from Cape Town’s Groote Schuur hospital.
