BIAFRA: Parts of Rivers state deserted as Biafrans obey 'Sit-at-home' protests.

Contrary to popular expectations, parts of Rivers state appear to be deserted as only a handful of business houses are open for operation today.

This is not unconnected to and in compliance with the Sit-at-home protest called for by the Indigenous People of Biafra.

Oyigbo area of Rivers state is one area where the Biafra protest has received huge compliance. The town looks like a ghost town as individuals and service providers obeyed the call to stay back at home to demand the release of Radio Biafra Director Nnamdi Kanu who has been looked up for almost a year and denied bail on several occasions despite court orders to the contrary.

A popular hotelier in Port Harcourt who spoke to Clon Lesley on basis of anonymity, said he supports the movement and protest completely. However, he would not shut down his business houses.
"This would make me an easy target for the authorities when the start looking for alleged sponsors of the Biafra movement."
he said.

It would be recalled that the leadership of the secessionist group asked all its supporters all over the world to sit back at home today.
