Power of Silence

“Within you there is a stillness and a sanctuary to which you can retreat at anytime and be yourself.” ~Hermann Hesse.

The beauty of silence is that it simply “is”. There is nothing artificial or engineered about it. Silence offers an opening that cannot be immediately defined -- an opportunity to take the time to unearth the mysteries and lessons that exist within.

Everyday, from the moment we wake, we are surrounded by sounds of different kinds; alarm clocks, radio, television, music and interperson discussions. We get so used to noise and sounds that we become uncomfortable and disconcerted in the absence of noise. We quickly fill these gaps with music or informal (small) talks. Matter-of-factly some people simply can not stand the absence of man made noise.

Silence is a virtue. To some it comes naturally, while some need to acquire it as one would a skills. Silence, when properly deployed, is a powerful tool. The greatest ideas that have shaped the world as we know it today have come in moments of silence. Scientists, businessmen and religious/spiritual leaders are some people who understand the importance of silence.

In silence; We turn our thoughts and focus inwards and gain the power we need to refuel our minds. Our ego is temporarily switched off or at least made to be quiet for a bit, and we start to see the real world as it should be. Our thoughts get in the way of our reality sometimes and we don’t see the beauty of the world around us. When there is silence there is time for introspection and to allow our true self to speak not the ego or the conscious mind, but the true self connected to the flow of energy around us.

More argument are won by remaining silent. The ego will try to force it's way out and out-argue the other person. But silence is best,(although difficult), way to win argument.

A person that talks too much has little secrets and therefore is easily predictable. A predictable person is a cheap prey to his enemy.
Exercise the power of silence and you will discover an inner energy that will put you in charge of your surroundings.

Mother hawk sent her young fledgling out on their first hunt. The fledgling returned  with a little duckling. Mother hawk congratulated on a successful catch, but she asked him. "What did the mother duck say or do when you carried her baby"?
"Nothing". He replied. "She just watched silently".
Mother duck immediately ordered the fledgling to return the duckling and look for another prey. The disappointed fledgling grudgingly obeyed. He returned a while later with a chick. Once again mother hawk asked him what the hen's reactions were. The fledgling began to narrate how the hen screamed, clawed and made attempts to recover her chick. But in the end he was able to get away with the chick. Mother hawk congratulated him and asked him to take the chick inside and prepare it for food.
Later that night the puzzled fledgling asked his mother why she asked him to keep the chick that gave him trouble to catch but return the duckling that was gotten stress-freely. The mother answered that the hen did all she could do by shouting and fighting, there was nothing more she could have done. Therefore she was no threat. The duck on the other was a bigger threat for the fact that she was silent. No one knew what plan she was scheming. Only a fool would mistake silence for cowardice.

"Silence is the ultimate weapon of power" _ Charles De Gaulle

"Let your beauty manifest itself without talking or calculation
You are silent.
It says for you: I am.
And comes in meaning thousand fold,
comes at long last over everyone."
 Rainer Maria Rilke
