On the issue of PURPOSE

Countless literature has been written and several speeches delivered on the topic of purpose and how to discover purpose.

This is just my own take on the topic.

First I agree that every human is created for a purpose. And according to Dr. Myles Munroe (of blessed memory) "the purpose for a thing is best known by the maker of the thing". If this is true then our purpose can best be defined by our Maker; God.

Now to the question that had been asked a million times over; "how do I discover my purpose?"
My answer is we do not have to go about looking for purpose. Instead we should position ourselves such that purpose can find us. Put yourself in a position where purpose can find you.

Daniel, David, Gideon, Joshua, Moses are a few of the men in the Bible who lived with purpose but there's no record of any of them embarking on any spiritual journey or adventure in a bid to discover their purpose. They simply committed themselves to the little responsibilities they had before the greater ones found each of them.

I am not undermining the place of prayer in all these. All I'm saying is too many a time we pray amiss then go to sleep and waste precious time waiting; expecting God to reveal purpose to us in a dream or vision. When already He has given us the manual for our lives in form of the gospel.

The problem I have with dreaming is that most times it shows us what we want to see; what we've spent most of our time thinking about during the day, and we quickly mistake them for revelations.
The bible in Ecclesiastics 12:13 the general purpose of every living being: "Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments: For this is the whole duty of a man".

Instead of running around looking for purpose, commit yourself to doing what Ecclesiastics 12:13 says diligently and God will locate you with a specific purpose like He did with Moses, Daniel, Joshua and the rest of them.
