EMANCIPATION : OUR COLLECTIVE DESIRE

BY INNOCENT CHIKADIBIA

Emancipation is the act of setting somebody or a group of people free from slavery, subjugation and any form of undemocratic influences in a democratic setting like Nigeria.

In a heterogeneous or multiethnic society like Nigeria, political emancipation is the desire of every civil mind who yearns for development.

Emancipation again is the absolute and unconditional release from undemocratic and inhuman incarceration due to the parochial views of the leadership of the Government or due to the inability of the Government to differentiate between politics and governance.

Unfortunately, the term "dividends of good governance" is far from a people who are yet to be emancipated.

Signs and symptoms of lack of political emancipation:

1. Slavery of the citizenry by way of inflicting hardship through draconic economic policies that are geard towards deteriorating the already deteriorated economy of the country.

2. Unlawful harassment of the opposition members who should serve as "check machinery" to the occupants of Aso Villa.

3. Disrespect to the rule of law and to judicial decisions without contempt of court being established against the person or persons involved thereby democratizing impunity and lawlessness.

4. Appointing both the dead and walking corpses into key offices for reasons best known to them and also using those who could not even account for the management of their state's funds as key members of Executive Cabinet to be implementing laws that will in no means benefit the ordinary man who is the reason for governance.

We are now in a country where illiteracy, cowardice and mischief is being celebrated above professionalism and capacity. A country where a square peg is put in a round hole; this is a total absence of emancipation and good governance.

It is high time we started campaigning for the change of this agents that have seen no reason to emancipate the citizenry.

The scripture declares thus; "right from the days of John The Baptist, the kingdom suffered violence and only the violent took it by force".

The force we (Nigerians) have is the goodwill of the PDP and her leadership. Nigerians shall use that force to regain the kingdom and forcefully return the country to her eldorado.

Enough of this political fraud and deception.

We desire a total emancipation for our today and unborn generations.

God bless Nigeria
