JONATHAN MADE A MARK NO LEADER IN NIGERIA HAS EVER MADE — BUHARI



President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday said his predecessor; former President Goodluck Jonathan made a mark that no leader in Nigeria has ever made, by conceding victory to him after the 2015 Presidential election.

Addressing the European Union parliament’s plenary session in Strasbourg, France, Buhari said Jonathan’s singular act of relinquishing power after losing the election has ensured that Nigeria remained peaceful despite predictions of tension sequel to the polls.

He said: “Democracy has come to Nigeria to stay. Sooner than we expect, Nigeria will be regarded as one of the strongest in Africa.”
Buhari also reiterated his government’s commitment towards rescuing the abducted Chibok girls and ensure that they are reunited with their parents.

He said: “The government will not rest until the girls are rescued alive and reunited to their parents.”

Buhari while speaking on the war against Boko Haram insurgency and the success achieved by the military so far, said the activities of insurgent group has been were now limited only within the Sambisa Forest.

“We have reorganised the Nigerian Armed Forces and repositioned them to deal decisively with the Boko Haram terrorists.
“Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states’ local government areas where the insurgents once dominated have been gradually recaptured,” Buhari said.
