Buhari smuggled out of London hotel through basement.

Nigerian president Muhammadu Buhari was on friday smuggled out of his hotel residence through the basement to avoid angry protesting youth.

The youth who turned out in their numbers claiming to be Biafrans besieged the entrance into the Kennington Close Hotel in London where Buhari was supposed to address the Nigerian Community in London. They were protesting the continued incarceration of the Director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.

According to reports it took the intervention of the Metropolitan Police to pave way for Buhari and his entourage to gain entrance into the hotel where the town hall meeting was to hold. However the meeting lasted for only about 10 minutes following the disruption.

The Biafran youths waited patiently for him to leave, his aides pleaded with the police to ask the protesters to leave. The police refused, stating that the protesters had the right to assemble where they wanted to. Alternatively,  Buhari was smuggled out of the hotel through a basement exit.
